Welcome to the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE)

The African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) is a continental educational organization comprising African universities and other higher education institutions, which are committed to expanding access to quality education and training through open and distance learning. The mandate of the ACDE, as a unifying body of ODL providers in Africa, is primarily to promote research, policy and quality in open and distance learning to increase access to education and training in Africa. We do this by building capacity, fostering collaboration and partnership, and advocacy. Read more

Invitation to participate in the 26th ICDE World Conference, 14-16 October 2015

The University of South Africa (Unisa) has the honour of hosting the 26th World Conference of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE), to be held at Sun City from 14 to 16 October 2015. The theme of the conference is "Growing capacities for sustainable distance e-learning provision". It was identified with the aim of inclusivity, ensuring that the developing world is properly capacitated to offer ODeL, and to create a shared space to engage on opportunities for growth in scholarship, global networking and the promotion of ODL as a means of access for large numbers of students to quality higher education.
